About
Luke Moran-Morris grew up in Hackney, London. After gaining a BA in Graphic Design & Photography from Kingston University he moved to Brighton to hang out with bands and take moody photos on the seafront. This evolved into beginning a career in portrait & documentary photography alongside design for magazines.
After these early experiments, Luke realised that he wanted to be a designer with a broad scope and collaborative process, thus he decided to move into the world of film. He started directing and designing music videos for his friends bands as well as working his way into the art department by assisting experienced designers.
This subsequently lead to him designing videos for notable artists such as Dua Lipa, Bonobo, Loyle Carner, Metronomy, Wolf Alice, and Radiohead. In 2017 he won Gold at the Ciclope Awards and the UKMVA for best production design for the ‘BONOBO - NO REASON’ video, directed by long time collaborator Oscar Hudson. He again won the UKMVA for best production design in 2019 for ‘LOYLE CARNER ft. JORDAN RAKAI - OTTOLENGHI’.
While continuing to work on award winning music videos, he has built a successful career in narrative work having designed four feature films to date alongside many shorts.
Luke’s first feature as production designer was was Rene Van Pannevis’ LOOTED starring Thomas Turgoose & Charlie Palmer Rothwell.
This was followed by Nathalie Biancheri’s NOCTURNAL starring Cosmo Jarvis & Laurie Kynaston. Which was selected for the 2019 London Film Festival.
In 2022 he designed HOW TO HAVE SEX, Molly Manning Walker’s writer/directorial debut which won the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes Film Festival 2023 before going on to be selected for many film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival 2023 and Sundance Film Festival 2023. It won 3 British Independent Film Awards and was nominated for 3 BAFTA’s including Outstanding British Movie. The film’s star Mia McKenna-Bruce won the BAFTA 'Rising Star Award.
In 2023 Luke designed the upcoming feature FOR LIFE, co-written & directed by William Bridges. Co-written by & starring Brett Goldstein alongside Imogen Poots.
Most recently Luke has come on board as production designer on Oscar Hudson’s debut feature ‘Straight Circle’, which is currently in pre-production.
